Johannesburg - Yellow corn in South Africa settled at the lowest price in more than a month in Johannesburg trading.
Wheat also declined.
Yellow corn for delivery in July dropped 0.7 percent to 2,180 rand a metric ton, the lowest since March 27, by the midday close on the South African Futures Exchange.
The white variety decreased 0.3 percent to 2,085 rand a ton.
South Africa is the continent’s largest producer of corn.
A meal made from the white variety is used to make a staple food, while the yellow type is mainly fed to animals.
Wheat for delivery in July declined 0.2 percent to 3,980 rand a ton. - Bloomberg News
