Durban – Pinetown police are investigating a concealment of birth case after a dumped foetus was found on Monday.
KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo said that a foetus wrapped in plastic packets was found in Chancery Lane, in Pinetown, at 5.30pm.
“A case of concealment of birth was opened at Pinetown police station for investigation.”
Earlier this year, a newborn baby was found by a homeless man in Musgrave Road across the road from Musgrave Centre, Berea.
“The baby was wrapped with a towel, put inside a pillowcase and inside a plastic packet,” said a Facebook post.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Nqobile Gwala said that on a Monday morning in April, police were alerted to the discovery of a baby’s body in Musgrave Road.
“Upon their arrival at the scene, police saw the body of an infant wrapped in a towel and coloured sheet. A case of concealment of birth has been opened at Durban Central SAPS for investigation,” Gwala said.
