Radio host, Mthaux has announced his departure from South Africa's biggest commercial youth radio station, YFM

Mthaux, whose real name is Mthokozisi Mncwango took to social media platform to release a statement announcing that he will be stepping away from his “On Air Talent” breakfast show.

Mthaux wrote: “I’d like to take a moment to announce my departure from the breakfast on Y. After much consideration, I’ve decided to step back from being 'On Air Talent'.

“I have to acknowledge the most important person that drives me til’ this day, the listener. Yires, thank you for a life changing 10 years. I will miss you dearly!”

Mthaux also thanked his managers, fellow DJs, friends and family who supported him.

“I’m grateful to have produced for the best in the game & proud to have been one of the many conduits of queer voices on the radio.” the statement read.

The media personality who was on air for 10 years co-hosted alongside Nia Brown and George Mnguni, popularly known as Okay Wasabi, a YouTube star, comedian and TV presenter. 

Fellow industry colleagues and his fans flooded the comment section as they wished him well on his new journey.

5FM DJ and TV host Zanele Potelwa commented: “You can be so proud my beautiful!!! You are incredible and thank you for sharing your brilliance and light with all of us.”

South African actress Dineo Moeketsi Langa wrote: “You’re a once in a lifetime talent and easily one of the most beloved voices of our time. You deserve every single flower acquired over the last 10 years, as you embark on your next chapter know that you have our love & support. I can’t wait to see what your next big one is. Soar, superstar!!!"

Television and radio personality Mantsoe Pout said: "My love ❤️ I’m beaming with excitement for your new journey! You have done everyone proud and a decade of pouring into other people isn’t one to be taken lightly. Congratulations on what you gave GP. Time now to pour into YOU!
