Celebrated country artist Kip Moore, who headlined shows in Pretoria and Cape Town last month, with the latter as part of the inaugural Cape Town Country Festival, has dropped two new songs.

The “Hey Pretty Girl” hitmaker released “Flowers in December”, which is also accompanied by an official video, as well as “Wildfire” on Friday, November 22.

A statement explained that “Flowers in December” is a forlorn and melancholic ballad and that “Wildfire” has been described as a “soaring, rich tune that pines with burning passion”.

Moore’s new music has been released hot on the heels of The 58th Annual CMA Awards, which was held in Tennessee in the US on Thursday, November 21.

The American singer and songwriter won the 2024 International Artist Achievement Award at the event and this accolade capped off a busy year on the road for Moore as he continues to cement his place as one of country music’s top global powerhouses.

Moore explained in a statement: We’ve played ‘Flowers In December’ a couple of times live and the reaction was just so visceral and we knew this had to be the next song to be released.”

“This song has so many different threads of those inspirations running through it.”

He added: “I’m also fortunate enough to be in a new chapter of my career and so with that in mind, I decided to make good on releasing more and more music as the songs are recorded.

He revealed that when we wrote and recorded “Wildfire”, there was “no agenda in mind and all the walls came down on trying to fit into any kind of perceived box”.

“I hope people are able to feel this music the way we did while making it.”

As one of America’s biggest country artists, Moore fuses grudge-tinged rock n’ roll into his music.

The renowned musician broke into the industry in 2012 and has since released five critically acclaimed albums and has written over a dozen chart-topping singles, including “Something”, “Bout a Truck”, “Beer Money” and ”More Girls Like You”.

With over 1 billion streams and 2.5 million monthly listeners, he’s performed sold-out headline shows in stadiums around the world including Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, the UK, and the US, among others.

The multi-platinum-selling musician took to the stage as part of his “Nomad World Tour” at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria as well as at the Cape Town Country Festival at DHL in November.

During his world tour, he also took to the stage in several US cities as well as in Australia.
