Nicki Minaj has treated her fans to new music, featuring collaborations with top artists.
Last week, she dropped the updated version of her third album “The Pinkprint”, as a way of celebrating a decade since its release.
The anniversary edition includes four new songs. They are “Turn Yo Cap Back”, featuring American rapper and singer Swae Lee, as well as “If It’s Okay”, featuring David Guetta and Nigerian superstar, Davido.
Her other new tracks are “Remember Me”, featuring Parker Ighile, and “Arctic Tundra”, featuring Juice WRLD (Jarad Anthony Higgins), who features on the single posthumously.
The musician suffered a seizure and died on the way to the hospital on December 8, 2019, just six days after turning 21.
“The Barbz have heard these songs before - due to their ‘sneaky leaks’ & sneaky links. However, the world didn’t hear them all yet & I love every single one of them,” Minaj wrote on Instagram, adding: “I hope it feels nostalgic & magical to you.”
Minaj also thanked those who have contributed to her success, including featured artists, producers, radio stations and music streamers, among others.
The first iteration of “The Pinkprint”, which she released in 2014, went on to be a worldwide success, debuting at No 2 on the Billboard 200 and has since earned a double platinum certification in the United States.
The record was also nominated for Best Rap Album at the 2016 Grammy Awards as it included songs such as “Pills N Potions,” “Anaconda”, “Truffle Butter”, featuring Drake and Lil Wayne and “The Night Is Still Young.”
The 41-year-old rapper and singer-songwriter also worked with the likes of Beyoncé, Ariana Grande and Meek Mill, among others on the album.
Meanwhile, Minaj released her fifth full-length album, “Pink Friday 2”, in December last year.
Many of the songs on the album such as “FTCU”, “Beep Beep” and “Pink Friday Girls” went viral on social media as the record debuted at No 1 on the Billboard 200, making history as Minaj captured the most No.1’s on the Billboard 200 by a female rapper ever.
The songstress also recently announced that she will celebrate the one-year anniversary of the album by releasing “Pink Friday 2 - The Hiatus” on December 13.
While promoting the album last year, Minaj spoke to Apple Music about her work ethic and the Barbz, which her fans are affectionately known as.
“I’m blessed that people still even care about what I'm doing,” she explained to the music streamer’s Zane Lowe.
“I want to make sure I don't take that for granted. Me even having people anticipate an album. ... My first album came out in 2010. My first mixtape came out in 2007. So, the fact that people even care is a blessing.”
Minaj added:”I could have been put this album out. ... Some of the songs I wrote four years ago when I thought I was going to put an album out. But no. No. I refuse to do it.
“I feel like as a leader in anything, you have to be willing to take those kinds of risks you know you’re not guaranteed to win at, but it’s going to shift the motherf**king culture because if you ain’t going to do it, who will?”
