Francois van Coke's latest single “Aande”, featuring Ryno Velvet, promises to energise music lovers this festive season with its party vibe.

The renowned Afrikaans rock star’s new single, which was released on Thursday, December 12, is the second single after the release of “Victor Ludorum” which is part of the musician’s fifth full-length solo album, “Die Ruimte”, which is dropping on March 20.

“‘Aande’ is a party song and an ode to the night, while lamenting the current state of our society,” he explained.

The artist added that the song came together after he and Velvet, who have known each other for a long time, got to know each other better during a tour to the UAE with Fokofpolisiekar in May.

“On a bus somewhere in the desert, he sang a chorus of a song to me.”

Van Coke said that the single’s chorus hooked him instantly and that before the end of the first listen, he told Velvet that he wanted the song.

“We had a session with Richard Onraet (Die Gevaar) from Van Coke Studios, reworked the song a bit and it became ‘Aande’.”

“It’s one of the most addictive songs my ears have ever heard.”

The South African rock icon is renowned for his powerful vocals and dynamic performances.

He first rose to fame as the frontman of legendary bands Fokofpolisiekar and Van Coke Kartel. The musician launched his solo career in 2015 with the hit song “Toe Vind Ek Jou”, featuring Karen Zoid.

Since then, he has released four popular solo albums: “Francois van Coke”, “Hierdie is die Lewe”, “Dagdrome in Suburbia” and “Kanniedood”.

His latest EP, “En Vriende II”, was released in September 2023.
