South African television is about to get exciting as two popular shows “Smoke & Mirrors” and “Isitha: The Enemy,” unite for a festive crossover event.

These programmes will take their viewers on a journey when characters from Emnyameni (Smoke & Mirrors) and Esihlahleni  (Isitha: The Enemy) come together in episodes spilling over from 9pm to 9.30pm.

The epic narrative unfolds through YFM, as they host a competition called ‘My Kasi Got Talent’, with a call to find the most talented kasi in the country.

Mamiki from Emnyameni and Nka from Esihlahleni will battle for the grand prize, and people from their respective neighbourhoods will deploy foul tactics to secure the top prize.

“Smoke & Mirrors” and “Isitha: The Enemy” are not the first local shows to do a crossover.

In 2018, “The Queen” and “The River” did a crossover when Harriet Khoza and Lindiwe Dlamini-Dikana reunited.

The two were old friends and met after years of not seeing each other.

“It’s an idea we always spoke about in the story room, among the writers, the executive producers of ‘The River’ (Phathu Makwarela and Gwydion Beynon) and the executive producers of ‘The Queen’ (Connie and Shona Ferguson),” said Bonga Percy Vilakazi, the writer on ‘The Queen’.

“Because both shows are written by the same team, it’s been a fantasy of ours to merge the two worlds, and have two of television’s most evil bitches meeting and appearing in the same space,” he said at the time.
