In a dramatic twist of events, South African reality TV star Khanyi Mbau has announced her reconciliation with her long-time partner, businessman Kudzai Mushonga, just days after publicly announcing their split on social media.
The “Young, Famous & African” reality star had taken to Instagram recently to express her heartache over gathering the courage to separate from Mushonga after a tumultuous five-year relationship.
The couple's on-again-off-again romance has kept fans on their toes since they first publicly declared their relationship in 2021.
Over the years, they have weathered numerous challenges, including a separation when Mbau reportedly left Mushonga in Dubai in 2021.
Despite the ups and downs, their deeply rooted affection for each other has been evident through grand gestures such as tattoos of one another’s names and affectionate social media posts.
Now, it seems the lovebirds are back together.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Mbau revealed that Mushonga reached out to her.
Together with a picture of her in a car, Mbau said on Instagram: “He called, demanded I address the bad things he did, he asked to attend the funeral that made me mourn ... I cried ... He listened ... Now I am in the car he sent headed home.”
She added: “Don’t ask!! 🫣 he didn’t entertain my rubbish. We are adults!!! (listen don’t judge). Besides, where would I go with a thigh laminated in bold with his name! 😪.”
The “Happiness Is a Four-Letter Word” actress followed up with an image of stacked brown boxes captioned, “We pack to unpack,” paired with a nostalgic tune, Chicago’s “Hard To Say I'm Sorry”.
Prior to this reconciliation, Mbau had expressed her sorrow and frustrations, revealing that Mushonga had “done some bad things”.
Despite openly contemplating her departure, she acknowledged the attempts he made to win her back.
“He tried everything he could to make it up to me. I did most of my grieving while we were together. I finally got the courage to leave. And of course I wish him the best,” she wrote.
As news of the make-up swept across social media, fans responded with a mixture of humour and support.
