Durban - Cheating women think differently about divorce if they have children, stated Victoria Milan, a website for people who want to have extramarital affairs.

New research based on a survey of 2 000 of its female members found that 61 percent of cheating women did not plan to divorce, despite their infidelity, and 55 percent believed divorce would have negative consequences for their children.

The survey asked the women if they were mothers, why they were cheating, and how having children affected them when it came to separating or divorcing.

The results showed most – 66 percent of the respondents – were mothers and a narrow majority of the cheating mothers, 55 percent, would avoid divorce, for the good of their children.

A third of the moms said they had affairs to “mix up things and add some spice back into their lives”.

A quarter cheated because their husbands or partners were inattentive, while another quarter reported that their partners did not satisfy them in bed.

And the rest? Ten percent indicated they were cheating to “get back” at their partner who was also cheating, while five percent cheated because they were angry with their partner.

In terms of their actual situation, 62 percent of respondents said they were not planning on getting divorced, while 27 percent indicated they were going through a divorce or a separation.

Eleven percent were still on the fence, but were seriously considering divorce.

Sigurd Vedal, founder of Victoria Milan, said: “The family is a very important part of everybody’s life, so I am not surprised by this result. It is normal, even wise, to think twice before taking the next step and divorcing, and even more so if you are a parent.”

“Choosing to become a single parent is a serious and thoughtful consideration,” said Kerri Zane, a single mom, healthy lifestyle expert and author of It Takes All 5: A Single Mom’s Guide to Finding the REAL One. - The Mercury
