Two vehicle importers, Honda and Ineos, are recalling products in South Africa, the National Consumer Commission (NCC) announced this week.

In Honda's case, the campaign involves CR-V as well as Civic 4-door and Civic Type R 5-door models that were sold between 2022 and 2025.

This is due to a potentially faulty steering gearbox worm wheel, which could result in abnormal noise or dangerous sticking when turning the steering.

This forms part of a global recall that affects approximately 1.7 million vehicles.

Honda dealers will replace the worm gear spring and redistribute or add grease to the worm gear assembly, if deemed necessary.

Ineos faulty door mechanisms

Ineos Automotive South Africa, meanwhile, has announced a recall of its Grenadier SUV and Quartermaster double cab bakkie, which were made available from June 1, 2023, onwards.

The importer said some customers had reported door buttons remaining in the depressed position when opened from the outside. This could cause the door not to fully close and latch as it was designed to.

Ineos will replace the door button mechanisms of affected vehicles.

Affected Honda and Ineos customers are urged to contact their nearest dealerships in order to book them in to have the necessary repairs conducted.
