Durban High School mourns death of young rugby star, Asange Ngam

Tributes are pouring in on social media following the death of Durban High School learner, Asange Ngam.

The Grade 8 learner died after allegedly suffering a complication with a blood clot.

In a post on Facebook, DHS said Asange was a former learner at Penzance Primary School where he played first team rugby in Grades 6 and 7.

"He very quickly became a leader both on and off the field. He worked extremely hard and captained the Penzance’s 1st XV in his Grade 7 year," the school said.

It said Asange was chosen for the U12A and U13A Sharks teams.

"Asange was a model student, excelling in both sport and academics at DHS. He continued to show tremendous leadership abilities and was a key member of the DHS U14A rugby team this year," DHS added.

The school said Asange will be remembered by all, as a loving boy with a quirky smile, who loved to laugh and was a great friend.

"On behalf of the entire DHS Old Boys community, I would like to extend my sincere condolences to Asange’s family and friends. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time. We stand with them in their sorrow, offering our support and heartfelt sympathy," the school said.

DHS has asked the community to remember Asange's family, friends and loved ones in prayer.

"Asange’s memory will remain an integral part of our school’s legacy and will continue to inspire those who knew him. RIP Asange Ngam," DHS said.

His primary school, Penzance also shared a post on Facebook.

“Asange will be remembered by all of us at Penzance as a loving boy with a quirky smile, who loved to laugh and was a great friend,” the school said.
