Next time you`re at a taxi rank you might find a mock ATM with a team from

Absa showing people how it works.

This project, part of a plan to take banking to lower income households, is

designed to show people how to get the best out of their bank accounts,

Pamela Segakweng, of Absa, says.

"We`ve chosen to meet the people where they are. We`ll demonstrate, step by

step, how to withdraw cash, make deposits and get mini-statements. Educators

will also be on hand to give advice about basic banking services in general.

"Although we understand that some people would prefer to go into a branch to

do these transactions, we`d like to show them the option of 24-hour banking,

which can be a lot more convenient," Segakweng says.
