First National Bank credit card holders who subscribed to the AiRewards
loyalty programme will not lose out to the Sun Air debacle.
Peter van der Byl, FirstCard assistant general manager at FNB, says the bank
could not walk away from its customers. For this reason, all AiRewards miles
earned through spending on FNB credit cards will be honoured, even though
FirstCard has written off millions of rand paid to Sun Air`s AiRewards
programme.
Sun Air folded around the middle of this year, leaving FNB customers
wondering what was going to happen to all the miles that they had
accumulated. Some airlines have offered to partly recognise miles built up
on the AiRewards programme.
