Absa cardholders may get a kick out of the bank's latest offering - the SA Rugby Supporters visa card.

The card is one of three new visa cards to be launched by Absa. The other two are a Corporate card and a Platinum card.

The SA Rugby Supporters Card will be available from the end of the year and will be launched on behalf of the SA Rugby Football Union (Sarfu) and Visa.

The card, which will be internationally accepted, will show off the Springbok rugby logo, Absa says.

It will also offer cardholders benefits such as access to test match tickets, rugby merchandise and the chance to accompany the Springbok team on overseas tours.

Pieter van Wyk, Absa card general manager, says the bank will channel part of the turnover generated by the card to Sarfu to fund rugby development in South Africa.

South African citizens who apply for the card will be in line to win all-expenses paid trips to next year's World Cup in Wales.

Rugby supporters who would like to apply for the new credit card can telephone their details toll-free to 0800 111 282 to ensure they are on the mailing list.

* Absa's Visa Platinum card is aimed at the frequent traveller with a high income. The card has a high spending limit and applications will be by invitation only.

* The Corporate card is aimed at the business market to facilitate travelling and entertainment expenses.
