Touch screens make debut

Permanent Bank has just introduced new touch screen PermAssist self-service

terminals at branches countrywide.

These 50 machines are in addition to the Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs)

already installed at Permanent Bank branches and elsewhere.

The idea is to alleviate congestion at ATM queues by encouraging people to

use ATMs mainly for cash deposits and withdrawals.

You cannot draw cash from a self-service terminal.

But you can obtain bank statements, pay accounts, transfer funds between

linked accounts, check account balances, change your Personal Identification

Number, order a new cheque book or view international exchange rates.

Banking charges for using self-service terminals are generally lower than

doing your banking inside the bank over the counter, and in some cases are

even cheaper than ATMs.

If you bank with Permanent Bank, you can also use any of Nedbank`s 280

self-service terminals around the country, at no additional charge. And vice

versa.

To make account payments at these terminals, you must first complete an

electronic banking application form and provide details of the accounts that

need to be linked.
