The top-selling item at the recent auction of “Property from The Estate of MrsNancy Sinatra” was a Steinway & Sons Model B grand piano purchased by the Sinatras in 1949 which sold for $106250 (over R1.7million), well over its original estimate of $40000.

The piano was played on, or sung next to, by Nat King Cole, Sammy Cahn, Jimmy van Heusen, George Burns and many more 20th century luminaries at the Sinatras’ home at 320 N Carolwood Drive in Hollywood.

Nancy, the first wife of the singer, actor and producer, died last year at the age of 101.

She was married to Sinatra from 1939 to 1951.
