Johannesburg – Batsman and wicketkeeper Morne van Wyk has signed for the Dolphins for for the 2013/2014 season.
A former Knights and Proteas player, Van Wyk would bring a wealth of experience with him, KwaZulu Natal Cricket Union boss Jesse Chellan said.
“With our current young squad, growing our players on the field of play was identified as a gap.” said Chellan.
“Morne brings considerable leadership qualities as well as on-field excellence. He has been the rock around which the Knights team have performed especially in limited overs cricket. We hope that he plays a similar role for us.”
The 33 year old made his first class debut in the 1996/1997 season and his One Day International debut for the Proteas in 2003
at Lords and, over the years, earned respect as an attacking top order batsman.
Van Wyk had already relocated to Durban and would be part of the squad from April 2013. – Sapa
