Morris bowls Lions to victory

Johannesburg – The sun shone brightly on Chris Morris at the Wanderers on Sunday where the Highveld Lions hosted the Dolphins in their Sunfoil series match.

Morris achieved the best bowling record in a match and an innings for the Lions taking eight for 44, beating Garnet Kruger's previous record of eight for 112.

The fast bowler finishing with a match analysis of 40.1-9-101-12.

The Dolphins started the day needing 92 runs for victory with six wickets in hand, but instead lost by 53 runs.

The Lions started well as Morris removed danger-man David Miller in the seventh over of the day for the addition of only three runs to his overnight score of 28.

The Dolphins then suffered a meltdown after the dismissal of Miller, as the coastal outfit lost six wickets for 27 runs.

Besides the wicket of Miller, Morris took the wickets of Cody Chetty, Robbie Frylinck and Dane Paterson.

Hardus Viljoen weighed-in with the wickets of Daryn Smit and Kyle Abbott.

The Dolphins, from 149 for four overnight, were all out for 187. – Sapa
