Former Egypt and Borussia Dortmund striker Mohamed Zidan believes Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah is on track to have one of his best seasons ever.

Zidan’s countryman Salah currently tops the goalscoring charts in the English Premier League with 18 strikes, two ahead of Manchester City’s Erling Haaland.

The 32-year-old Salah this season has the most assists in the league with 13, two more than Mikkel Damsgaard of Brentford.

Liverpool currently top the league table after 19 games played, six points ahead of Arsenal and Nottingham Forest on 40 from 20 matches each.

Outstanding

“Salah has been exceptional so far this season, and if he maintains this form, he could be on track to win the Ballon d’Or,” Zidan told SportsBoom.com in an exclusive interview.

"His outstanding performances and impressive statistics speak volumes about his talent and determination. With his consistent contributions and ability to deliver in crucial moments, he continues to solidify his place among football’s elite."

"If he avoids setbacks and sustains his current level of play, the prestigious award might be within his reach. He has accomplished almost everything in football.”

"He’s won the Champions League and the Premier League, earned the Premier League’s Best Player award, and claimed the Golden Boot as the league’s top scorer. Now, we hope he can secure this ultimate prize.”

Salah was in the news earlier this week as he hit out at former Liverpool player Jamie Carragher.

Salah’s contract at Liverpool has not yet been renewed past the end of the season, and he has alluded to that in interviews - something he would not ordinarily discuss in public.

Reacting to some post-match analysis of Carragher, Salah posted on X: “I’m starting to think you’re obsessed with me”
