Kaizer Chiefs will be without midfielder Thabo Cele for their upcoming match against Magesi FC on Tuesday night. The Phefeni Glamour Boys will host the Limpopo outfit at the FNB Stadium, but they will be without the tenacious midfielder as he serves an automatic one-match suspension for accumulating yellow cards.
The 28-year-old midfielder joined Kaizer Chiefs on January 27, 2025, signing a three-year deal, valid until June 2028.
Since his arrival at Naturena, Cele has made five appearances for the club, totalling 365 minutes of play. His aggressive playing style has contributed to his disciplinary record, leading to his current suspension.
His absence presents a challenge for Kaizer Chiefs, who will need to adjust their midfield strategy for the match.
Before joining Chiefs, Cele had an extensive career in European football. He began his professional journey with Real S.C., Benfica B, Cova da Piedade in Portugal, Radomiak Radom in Poland, and most recently, Fakel Voronezh in Russia.
Throughout his career, Cele has been recognised for his versatility and midfield prowess, attributes that he continues to bring to Kaizer Chiefs.
Meanwhile, playmaker Gaston Sirino is also expected to miss the Magesi clash after he received a red card during their 4-1 defeat to SuperSport United on February 18, resulting in a two-match suspension.
Sirino and Cele are expected to be available for selection for the encounter against Stellenbosch FC in the Nedbank Cup.
