Just 10 minutes is all it will take for you to apply for your tickets for the World Cup.
The process is simple, painless and, depending on the speed of your internet connection, remarkably fast. But the process slows incredibly as you sit, wait and wonder whether your application was successful - and whether you got tickets for all the games you applied for.
For locals, applications for tickets can be made in two ways: online via the Fifa website, or at any FNB branch. If you have internet access and a credit card, going online is the best option.
Either way, you'll need the same things: the ID or passport number of each of the people being applied for and the postal address and two telephone numbers of the person making the application.
Credit card information will also be required when making payment online.
Here is a step-by-step guide on how to go through the online process:
1 Go to www.fifa.com, click on the "Fifa World Cup" tab at the top of the page. You'll be directed to another page where, below the World Cup logo, you'll find various tabs. Click "Ticketing" and then click on "Apply for tickets/View your application".
2 Next you'll have to create an online account with Fifa by providing your name, surname and e-mail address. After filling in these details, click "Begin Registration" and you'll be taken to another page where you will have to provide a password and user name, and are requested to accept detailed terms and conditions. Once this is done, click "Register".
(Don't worry, this is less complicated than it sounds.)
3 Now you get to apply for your actual tickets. After having a brief look at the graphic on the five-step process, click "Start your application" where you'll be directed to a series of forms you have to fill in.
4 You must first click to indicate that you're from South Africa before you're asked to select whether you want to apply for individual game tickets (each game in Durban, for example), or team-specific tickets (following a team, Brazil, say, for all of their group games).
5 Once you've applied for all the matches, you'll be asked to enter your credit card details.
6 Now you wait to hear if you're one of the lucky ones.
Apply on or before January 22. You should have an answer within a week.
