The UDM has expressed its support for the Central Park Social and Integrated Housing Development.

The party’s City of Johannesburg Councillor Yongama Zigebe said the project was just not about constructing homes, but it also about laying the foundation for a resilient, inclusive and equitable future.

“Our city faces significant challenges, and housing is undoubtedly one of the most pressing. However, we believe that this project offers more than just a solution to a housing shortage.

“It embodies a vision for a more integrated society, where social and economic divisions are broken down and replaced by opportunities for all. The Central Park development is about creating a community — a community where access to opportunity is no longer determined by one’s postcode, but by the potential of every individual,” Zigebe added.

He said the project sought to address the urgent need for environmental sustainability. “As we look to the future, we must consider how we can develop our cities in a way that reduces our environmental footprint while improving the quality of life for all residents.

“This development’s focus on a low-carbon infrastructure is a clear commitment to a greener, more sustainable Johannesburg. It is an investment not only in the present, but in the future well-being of our children and the generations to come.

“The social impact of this development will ripple far beyond bricks and mortar. It will uplift entire families, provide economic opportunities and create a more just and equitable Johannesburg.

“It will transform lives and neighbourhoods by giving people the stability and dignity that come with a safe, secure and affordable home.”

The UDM councillor said the city wasn’t only constructing buildings, but also hope for the youth, for women, for people living with disabilities and for every person who was marginalised or left behind. “By supporting this project, we are choosing to invest in the future of Johannesburg — a future where opportunity is abundant and no one is left behind,” Zigebe said.

The Central Park development project would be implemented in three phases. Central Park Lifestyle Estates would offer first-time home buyers in central Johannesburg affordable and stylish property options.

Zigebe said home buyers would enjoy classic finishes and design, with two- and three-bedroom apartments conveniently located close to schools, public transport, hospitals, shopping centres and parks.

Comprising three- and four-storey residential units, residents would enjoy sufficient green spaces with a natural park and wetland area and well dispersed sports amenities throughout the Central Park precinct.

These included clubhouses, children’s play areas, AstroTurf soccer fields, combi-courts, external gym areas, basketball courts as well as braai areas. Enjoy peace of mind with designated parking and easy access to Johannesburg.
