If you describe something as surreal, you mean the elements in it are combined in a fantastic and unique way that you would not normally expect… like a dream. What a perfect way to describe South Africa’s first genuine green boutique hotel, Surreal Boutique Hotel and Spa.

Surreal has a unique combination of eco chic boutique hotel, restaurant, spa and conferencing facility that takes a holistic approach to health. Surreal sees all guests as incredible holistic beings – all with a unique mind, body and soul.

“We know how precious the preservation of our planet is, which is why we have designed and produced a chic boutique hotel, restaurant and spa that is not only kind to the environment, but also to its people. We see all people as holistic human beings that should be treated as such,” says David Hadassin, co-owner.

The Hotel Spa offers a safe and relaxed indoor and outdoor environment based on Far East principles, with private secluded massage areas, natural rock water features, fully trained staff and a menu of massages, facials and all you would expect from a spa, and even offers detoxifying and energy-boosting cocktails and smoothies. One of the treatment rooms will be fitted with a R150 000 vitaliser, a new oxygenating treatment therapy.

The Surreal team comprises of resident chef Barry, who takes on a new age approach to fine dining, hotel manager Bjorn, and Jane who is an experienced iridologist and Reiki master.

Surreal believes that environmental protection, energy independence and profitability are not mutually exclusive. The hotel integrates modern, comprehensive and efficient energy solutions with solar thermal integration as a one-stop provider ensuring an energy supply that is economical, ecological and perpetual. Nearly R3 million was invested to ensure the hotel runs nearly off the grid, with Eskom providing only single phase.

A first in South Africa, Surreal Eco Boutique Hotel is also a showroom for Classique Afrique, an environmentally conscious, global “turnkey hotel solutions” supplier.

Surreal also adds those special, thoughtful little touches at each opportunity of contact with the guests, by offering every possible service, within reason, that a five-star hotel would or could offer.

The hotel has six rooms, consisting of two deluxe rooms, three garden deluxe rooms and one super luxurious suite with its own private patio, day bed, loungers, garden and Jacuzzi.

Surreal has a resort-like pool area and sundeck linked to the bar, restaurant, terrace, fire pit and spa, as well as world-class conferencing facility.
