The German poet Friedrich Hölderlin called the Danube “a refreshing, melodious river, sometimes foaming with high spirits, at other times dreaming serenely.”

For many centuries, this river has been a reflection of Europe's history-an economic lifeline, a highway to conquest, and a source of inspiration for poets and musicians.

2015 marks the 50th anniversary of the beloved Sound Of Music film and to celebrate Uniworld will be hosting Elisabeth von Trapp, granddaughter of the legendary Maria and Baron von Trapp, whose story inspired The Sound Of Music, on many sailings down the Danube River.

Guests will be delighted with a performance by vocalist and guitarist Elisabeth von Trapp. Elisabeth will feature on two itineraries between May and September 2015.

Catch her at a special concert in the Mirabell Chapel in Salzburg whilst on the River Beatrice cruising on the Enchanting Danube. You can also opt for the Danube Discovery & Prague itinerary on the River Ambassador or the River Princess on the brand new itinerary Delightful Danube & Prague where she will perform onboard the respective ships.

In addition to Elisabeth's onshore performances at the Mirabell Chapel during the Enchanting Danube itineraries, she will also host two very special music themed departures in July and August.

Ms von Trapp will greet guests with a welcome concert and lead an evening sing-a-long onboard.
